Five high manganese steels (HMS) types after cast, hot rolling and subsequently aged at 550 °C in interval 6´ - 30´ - 60´ are studied. With higher rate of elements supporting ferrite and austenite the ferrite volume fraction is increasing as well as the stacking fault energy, which decides about deformation type. Hardness increase of the HMS depends on chemical composition however balance of key elements is the most important.
