The effect of high-pressure torsion on the structure and magnetic properties of as-cast Nd9.5Fe84.5B6 alloy was studied by X-ray diffraction analysis, differential scanning calorimetry, and magnetic measurements performed in using a vibrating-sample magnetometer. The results show that, after high-pressure torsion (HPT), the material consists of α-Fe and an amorphous phase, which can be turned into Nd2Fe14B/α-Fe nanocomposite phases by subsequent annealing. The maximum coercivity of 4.5 kOe and (BH)max = 166 kJ/m3 were obtained by HPT using 20 rotations. The parameters reached are 20 times higher than those of the initial sample.
